NATWEST MC With Your Own Photo

Natwest are now doing a MC with your own photo on the face of the card.

I thought about putting a picture of me on the card with the text - CALL NATWEST IF THE PERSON USING THIS CARD DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS - or something a bit more succinct.

What do you think.?

Actually I recall many years ago a card that you could supply a passport photo for it to be included on the card as an additional security feature.

Cheers

  • What's the point?
Chip and pin rules - most people don't even look at the cards anymore.

I guess you are right - in the goold old pre c&p days we used to sign, how often were our signatures checked!

  • I think it's great idea and would improve security.

Chip and Pin is ok but there is a website with all your pin numbers on it

    But it won't happen!
    Reason 1 is Post 2
Reason 2 is Cost. It would cost a hell of a lot for anybody to put one's own photo on a credit or debit card.

It costs £10 for the NatWest one.

    I won't be getting one ;)

  • I've just received my Capital One statement. I can look forward to receiving £111.61 for free in January (account opened in July). My GE Money card also earned me over £100 this year.

I always check my statements and have never been charged twice. A colleague has been charged twice but the error was corrected within 24 hours.

If I got discount for paying in cash, I'd do it. This saves the seller CC transaction fees but very few prefer cash. Paying by CC brings valuable additional benefits such as insurance.

The abbey one used to cost £5 for a photo/any picture you want on the cards.

Not sure if they still do it.

It was on the bank acciunt/debit card.

Abbey's one is withdrawn temporarily, but will be back soon. It did have a clear message on the back that it shouldn't be used as photo ID, and I'd imagine the Natwest one will have something similar. Indeed Natwest/RBS used to issue cards with a security photo, but stopped around the time C&P came in.

Well, I hope the Abbey one will be back soon, I am missing the photo I had on mine. I don't think I would like my face on my card though, however it might help as a deterrent against the card's theft:)
