Redundancy - Zero Hours - Furlough

I have been on furlough for about a year. Prior to that I was working a regular 40 hours a week for a company and had been for several years. There is some doubt whether the company will re-open or note (I suspect not). The owners of the company have another unrelated business at a location 10 miles away. They have offered me temporary work at that other business doing different work and if I do that they have said that they will take me off of furlough. If I take the alternative work (which is just temporary) will I be jeopardising my entitlement to further furlough and future redundancy with the original company? How long can they remain closed and simply say that they are just not giving me any hours at the moment?

You could be. It could be an underhand way of getting you to leave your current employment and starting afresh and thus losing your acquired employment rights, including redundancy pay.
Therefore this is one instance where there needs to be a definitive written contract stating that the "new job" is temporary and does not impinge on your acquired employment rights with your current role. If you are in a union, seek their advice. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
