Unable to obtain Equifax statutory report

I've just been discharged from bankruptcy and have been taking advice on how to start the file clean up process. Experian statutory report is on its way, trans Union is on its way but I've hit a stumbling block with Exquifax as they're asking for credit card details to verify my identity? I tried my debit card but it said incorrect card details and I don't have a credit card...I'm bankrupt! How can I get my report please?

  • Try using clear score (the free front end) as a starting point. Or ask them if they have another way you can verify your ID

If you request a statutory credit report they are legally obliged to provide you with that info. Submit a formal complaint and ask what other ID they will accept, noting in your complaint that you do not have a credit card. I had to provide a copy of my passport and a recent utility bill when I first got access to my credit files, so it shouldn't be too hard.

OK so I've got clear score (didn't realise they were one and the same...oops) and just logged in, the discharge isn't showing on there and it updated a couple of days ago, I wonder why?

The monthly report is updated on a fixed date - they offer a novelty weekly update but that isn't the statutory report - it should appear in 4-6 weeks and remain there for 6 years from the bankruptcy date I think

Ah thank you for that 😀 just another quick question...on the accounts, does the last default date need to be the date bankruptcy was filed (so 3/3/20 for me) or the date of discharge?
  • I'd assume if the debt that the default relates to was in the bankruptcy, it shouldn't be later than the bankruptcy but I'm no expert on that, might be worth an ask of @sourcrates who is knowledgeable in these areas

For Equifax, you can also print out a paper application and send it to them in order to get your Statutory Credit Report sent to you by post:

There's also this hidden web form on the Equifax website, which I think should result in a Statutory Credit Report being generated and sent to you by post:
