Hi
This is my first time on here so apologies if I'm in the wrong place or doing something wrong.
I've just applied for a sainsburys zero percent balance transfer card and been accepted, the card is on the way. However that's where the good news ends! They've now informed me that they can't do a balance transfer as it's to a vanquis card and apparently their system doesn't recognise vanquis.
Does anyone know if there is any way around this at all?? 🤔0 -
If you have another card with a BT or MT use that. (If you haven't got an 0% offer ask them to do it at the standard rate, then immediately BT to Sainsbury's) or Apply for another card.1

Thanks, just wish I'd done my research before applying but it didn't say anywhere that they can't transfer to vanquis. Don't really want to apply for any more cards for fear of damaging my credit score but I guess that's the only option as I don't think sainsburys are going to budge!0

Your credit "score" is irrelevant as no-one ever sees it, the issue will be the application for credit on your history and your increased available credit which will affect applications. You'll probably need a money transfer card to be safe, another BT card may well have the same issue - maybe hunt the forum to see if anyone has been able to successfully move the balance off a Vanquish and look at their card. Maybe wait 2-3 months if you can before applying as well.0

There are no work rounds a card provider can do (at least not now)what_a_day said:Thanks, just wish I'd done my research before applying but it didn't say anywhere that they can't transfer to vanquis. Only way to find out if they will not do a BT from another card is to talk to them. As they do not publish things like that. In fact most staff properly do not know until you try and system says NO.Life in the slow lane0 -
Yeah that's probably the best idea to go for a money transfer card next time at least it saves being in this predicament again. Think I'll give it a few months and look at that option
Thanks for the reply

To be honest, I think Sainsburys (and others) should have a list of cards they don't accept clearly displayed up front otherwise it just wastes everyone's time.
If it were me, I would be opening a complaint with them. They are advertising a balance transfer card, not a 'oh we meant a balance transfer card but not for balances from xxx card'0
