  • Just checking in to say I'm still here and chipping away! Haven't had much time in the last couple of weeks to reconcile figures as it's been Easter holidays, but I'm hopeful things are still heading in the right direction.

I've applied for a Recovery Loan from HSBC for the business, which would essentially allow me to refinance the debt we have in mine and my husband's names, and have it under the business instead. It would be a fantastic position to be in if it comes off, but I'm not confident.

We've had notice from our Local Authority that the grants are coming to an end this month, but it's still £4.5k we wouldn't have had before! It's paid for some essential repairs to our vehicles (totalling over £1k) and new tyres etc. Very exciting... not!

Hope everyone else is doing well.
  • Great news! Maybe. Good luck
  • Finally here with an update!
We've been a bit more lax with the budget in April, mainly because of the Easter holidays making it more difficult to stick to low spending! However we've knocked a fair amount off the totals so I'm focusing on that and using it to motivate me to stay on track!

As of today the overdraft is down to £922.47, and total credit card & overdraft debt is £29,115.08. This is £1856.86 less than 3 weeks ago! I am chuffed to bits about that. I am still using any extra cash to focus on paying down the overdraft, once that is below £500 we won't be paying interest on that any more and then any excess we have will go towards the highest interest charging card.

I think staying motivated is half the battle at the moment. Still not heard back about the Recovery Loan, no news I guess isn't *bad* news, for now.

Hope everyone else is doing well and keeping going!
  • Finally here with an update! I don't have the time to organise updating figures on outstanding debts but I do have a more general life update.
I'll be starting a new job soon which will make such an incredible difference to our situation. The hours and position is such that I can do this alongside my role within my own business, which will hopefully allow me some flexibility financially so I can allow the business to recover post-Covid, and have a stable and reliable income for myself (for the first time in years!)
I think this is going to be a real fresh slate for me and I'm determined to ensure that we are as financially savvy as possible to maximise the impact of my new wage.
I hope everyone else is doing well and I'll be back soon with a proper financial update.
