It was a more polite way of saying "mind your own business." But I'd probably get reported for "not being nice to money savers" if I had the audacity to say something like that.
The person in question bounds into virtually every thread either handing out ridiculously incorrect information or just to wag their finger at people who aren't wrapping all their words in unicorns and seal puppies and tell s them off for "not being helpful." Ironic given their replies are rarely that.
And for the record, I don't think telling someone to stop policing the forum is policing the forum.2 -
You are Aqua's perfect customer. You don't clear your balance in full, so they are earning lots of money off you. Why would they reduce the interest rate? They're enjoying this. (There's no harm in asking, but I doubt they will care. You are exactly the kind of customer they like to keep, and if you can't clear your balance at the end of each month, you are stuck there paying this high rate.)
The reason they can charge this high rate is that they know your kind very well; they know you couldn't find another lender who would give you a lower rate, because you don't have an established and reliable credit history. That's why the rate is so high, they knew you were risky. To prove that you are not risky, you need to pay down that balance until you look trustworthy, and then other lenders might trust you with a lower interest rate.
You can check now whether you look trustworthy enough by doing a comparison search in https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/creditclub/ and see whether any other lenders show a high chance of approval for a balance transfer card. If you don't see any good offers at 80% or more, then what you need to do is pay off as much as you can every month until that balance is lower, and then look again.0 -

When you say they are charging you too much, do you mean more than the agreed 37% apr? Because if this is the case then yes you need to phone them and have it looked into as you should only be paying the agreed rate.0

Hello everyone, Long time ago since I posted on this forum in general. I'm going to say some amazing people helped me in the past, so thank you to them, they know who they are.
So on to Aqua, a company I've had a card with since 2012. They are useful, well when you need finance however as previously shown do not reduce interest rates.
They increased my rate in late 2020 and silly me, missed it, to find out it's not going to be reversed. I spoke to them as suggested, a 'complaint', and yes, they responded. They upheld all my complaints however, as seen above will NOT reduce the rates.
On further investigation, shall we say by asking certain 'innocent' questions I found that NO ONE has the ability or authority to reduce interest rates. You can be the best customer of there's and yet if your rate increases, it remains increased. A gentleman even suggested I ask for holiday payments and was met with a 'sharp' response of having to prove inability to pay.
There's a UK (past) series (you have to watch) called 'Hustle' and an episode with a lady who ran a loan company with the 'exact' same attitude as there's.
Pay the balance off as fast as you can and see how they react after their customer base dwindles - Typical 'Newday' Company.0 -
Many people do have their rates reduced - it's just that you're not one of them.1

I had an Aqua card and had the rate reduced a couple of times (before being hiked back up again) so they absolutely do reduce rates.0
