DFDS Frustrations

I really hope someone can provide some guidance on this frustrating issue.
As many of us have experienced I had my Easter holiday 2020 reschedules to Easter 2021. The holiday in question was a ferry trip via DFDS then onward travel to Holland (booked separately). I have attempted to cancel with DFDS and receive a refund as we were due to sail on 8th April and as there will be NO international travel allowed but i have been advised that "I would like to explain that DFDS can only offer a refund if we cancel the service for a suspension, presently this has not happened and will not be the case for the remainder of 2021. The sailing date you have for 08.04.2021 is not cancelled and will not be, so under EU legislation you are not subject to a refund from DFDS."
So we cant travel as DFDS are still operating for freight. So with this in mind i have thought we will rebook a city break as we have £640 to use. Although DFDS state on their website we can book a city break with a hotel stay the website doesn't allow you to progress. So i spoke to an agent within DFDS who stated that as they haven't renewed their hotel partnerships for 2021 we cant actually book a hotel and their own website is incorrect. I cant spend my money onboard the ferry either so even though i have a voucher i cant actually spend my money whilst on the ferry. So my only options are to book 2 or 3 trips that i don't want to take to try any use some of the credit.
So is this actually correct what DFDS are stating. I cant receive money back and i can receive a voucher yet i cant really use the full value of the voucher on what they are advertising.
Sorry in advance for the long winded and garbled message but I'm really frustrated and don't understand my option well enough

Thank you

    Yes, it's correct.

Either take the voucher and use it when you can, or use your travel insurance if it covers you.
  • They are correct but presumably they will begin to renew hotel partnerships once some sort of certainty returns to travel and may extend your voucher accordingly until this has been done.
  • Agree with previous.  You will not be entitled to a refund if the journey you booked on goes ahead.  This would be an insurance claim.  However, as your date of travel hasn’t arrived yet wait to see what your options are then. Could/might be that some ferries are running but the one you are booked on may be cancelled?

Are they saying you can accept a voucher now if you choose to?  I would hold off until a few days before just in case they cancel it for you.  (Just don’t miss the voucher offer).
