missing meter technical details

Hello.

I wonder if anyone here knows how to fix a problem?

I was with Symbio and with them the bills always showed opening read 0 and closing read 0 so moved to Outfox the Market, with them I couldn't enter a proper reading, it will allow 1 digit only instead of 5 digits, so moved to BULB, they wouldn't produce any bills, so moved to Green.energy, they couldn't produce any bills so moved to Neon Reef.  With them I can only enter a 1 digit meter ready too.

I am told meter technical details are missing.  That "industry" have not supplied them.  Who is this "industry" and what are "meter technical details"  Suppliers just give out compensation to me, hundreds of pounds instead of speaking to "industry".

Many thanks if you can advise?

Read your meters monthly and submit the readings to the energy company. If their online or phone systems won't accept your readings, submit them by e-mail or by written letter. Keep your records of the information you have sent them. Pay them any bills they send you. If they find themselves unable to bill you, a good plan would be be to set on one side the amount you expected to pay, in a savings account somewhere, so that when they sort it out you will be in a position to pay them.
I notice that you have switched supplier several times. On each occasion the suppliers will have needed to use meter readings to produce proper bills. So you must have records of those meter readings.

What did all your previous,  FIVE energy providers say when you asked them?

They said "industry had not supplied them with meter technical details"and paid me compensation.  Hello?
  • 'Industry' will refer to whatever industry database the number of digits for your meter is held. One database is ECOEs (The Electricity Central Online Enquiry Service), However I can't see anything on there which would refer to number of digits.

If the 'industry' has not provided them with technical details then send them a photo of your meter and ask them to update it. You may need to choose a competent supplier for this though instead of just a cheap one. Symbio, Outfox, Neon and Green. I wouldn't expect to be able to solve any of the odd queries that come up.

Bulb I would have seeing that they're supposed to be a tech company... but guess not.

Try speaking to Octopus Energy about it and see what they say, they seem to be one of the only suppliers who have the want and capability to solve issues like this.

Put the problem in writing. Give up on call centre staff; they can be useless for difficult problems.
Add a clear photo of the meter, including the reading and serial number.
Head the letter "Complaint". Tell them what needs to be fixed.
Then send it off and wait.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
