Recommend me a Washer / Dryer

Hi,
I'm looking to buy a new Washer / Dryer online and would welcome any suggestions.

I want to place it in a cupboard so needs not to be too deep, say maximum 57cm
I'm happy to pay for a premium product, but i'm  always looking to pick up a bargain if a good quality item is on offer anywhere.
I don't require a large washing/drying capacity but would like a machine that is as quiet as possible.

You need 'direct drive' machine then. My Hotpoint WDD960 is very quiet (except when spinning), but I wouldn't recommend it because of some problems I had with it.

Hi there! I'm having problems with my frost free integrated fridge - the motor runs constantly and the back wall ices up. Does anyone have any idea what the cause may be and if it's repairable?

We are very pleased with our Miele washing machine. No idea about dimensions.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

If you are happy to pay for a premium quality and want as quiet machine as possible I can recommend only one domestic brand,  already mentioned by GDB222
  • We recently got a Samsung Autodose. I absolutely love it. You load in enough detergent and conditioner for up to 16 washes, and it dispenses based on load. It’s near silent, and the dryer function is fantastic for a washer/dryer, which are normally notoriously lame. The only time we can here it is during spin cycle. Drying is also silent and does not heat the room.

You are unlikely to find a machine that shallow, standard non integrated are about 62cm. My own machine is actually more like 67cm with the door. If you want it shallower you’ll need to pay the higher price for integrated, again something higher end like Miele or AEG is best.
  • We had a haiwi washer, it didn’t last 5 years before it died. Currently have a 6 year old Miele which has been faultless. Don’t buy a cheap washer/dryer.

Personally, I wouldn't have a washer/dryer, but if needs must....  'Which' reviews highly rate Miele washer/dryers, and I'm certainly more than happy with the quality of my separate machines.

We have Beko washer dryer that we have had for about 3.5 years now. It has a 7kg wash load and 5kg dry load although it often dries more than 5kg!!

When we moved house it went through a brief phase of not drying for reasons we never got to the bottom of. It has since fixed itself and is working perfectly again. We don't know what went wrong with it and probably never will. It is very quiet during wash and dry modes, obviously you can hear it spinning but it is very stable and balanced when spinning.
