My caution with CAB comparison is that I found tariff pricing to be out of date when clicking through to supplier’s website.
Have also read issues with others on here reporting same.0 -

Definitely an issue, especially for the more obscure suppliers. Every comparison website has this issue, I personally find that Uswitch is normally the most up to date but you still get some left on there for ages.btr30 said:My caution with CAB comparison is that I found tariff pricing to be out of date when clicking through to supplier’s website.

I agree, I find USwitch the most useful.UnclaimedEnergy said:

I tried a few comparison sites on my last switch, and thought I had struck gold on CAB, but turned out to be out of date tariffs0 -

Trouble is, you can easily find Fool's Gold with Uswitch if you overlook the inappropriately named Filter icon and don't spot the almost invisible tickbox to show all suppliers.btr30 said:

That's the same with all comparison sites though, however admittedly Uswitches seems a bit more hidden0

Nope, Citizens Advice and 'Which? Switch' show all suppliers by default which is why they are the best place for newbies to start.UnclaimedEnergy said:That's the same with all comparison sites though0 -
Not sure why it is so hard to do the comparisons yourself. Plug the unit and standing charge info into MS excel, google sheets, or similar and work out the annual cost. Why is it always someone else's responsibility to do al the work for you?1

Ah, I see that they don't have any direct switching on them as they offer it as a service and not as a way to make money.Gerry1 said:

Some suppliers offer their cheapest tariffs as online exclusives with certain switching sites so you're still better off also checking a few others (Uswitch/MSE). Would be a lot easier though if you only had to check one.0 -

Switch' uses Energylinx (and sometimes has exclusive offers) but the 'Which?' version doesn't hide those that don't pay commission.Ideally you have to number crunch again to see whether separate suppliers are cheaper, and perhaps again if you have E7 to see whether single rate works out cheaper. Phew ! Shame no website does that for you. However, a little effort is well worthwhile because the savings can be significant, and having a better understanding of one's usage and DD payments helps to avoid the 'Help ! Massive DD increase !' problems that appear so often in this forum.0 -
