New eBay payment system

Options
Hi folks, I hope you’re all safe and well.

I have just had an email from eBay about their new payment system. They will no longer be allowing sellers to use PayPal as a payment method and insist on controlling the whole payment process, even charging you if the buyer pays cash on collection. PayPal also gives instant payment rather than eBay’s proposed 2 working day wait.

As I am unhappy to sell without the additional payment protection that PayPal offer I am loathe to continue using eBay.

Does anyone have any recommendations of alternative sites who allow PayPal as a payment system? We mostly sell small value items and occasionally electronic devices (phones/tablets/laptops etc) when we upgrade.

Stay safe all!

Already a big thread on eBay managed payments here EBay managed payment - Page 5 — MoneySavingExpert Forum

I don't think PayPal actually provides any benefit over and above eBay to sellers. If eBay decide in favour of the buyer that you didn't supply the right item or it didn't arrive then PayPal don't stop eBay refunding.
What benefit do you have with PayPal?

Facebook marketplace allows you to set your own payment options , I sell quite a bit on there and PayPal is widely used.

I don't understand?  eBay give Seller Protection just like PayPal, unless I've missed something huge.

I often defend PayPal on here but I think the ‘PayPal is 100% safe for seller’ mantra is believed a bit too quickly by some sellers. Yes I think PayPal is a good and useful payment tool, I use it on marketplace and for private sales without too much worry, however I do not agree with the view that it is perfect.

No, I am very much aware it is not perfect (although maybe OP isn't).  I just don't understand why they think eBay payments either give the seller less or no protection.
