Refund for a cancelled holiday

Hi just after some advice. We had a holiday booked through a travel agent that got cancelled at the end of January due to a change in flight schedule. We were supposed to fly last Sunday. The travel agent have said it could take 10 weeks for a refund - is this right? I've been in touch with Emirates but they can tell me nothing as it was booked as a package holiday through a travel agent rather than them direct.

Any help would be appreciated.

    If it's a package that's cancelled by the provider, then they're obliged under the Package Travel Regulations to refund you in full within 14 days - the airline is correct to say that they have no such responsibility to you so you need to pursue the agent.

    If you paid by credit or debit card then you can make a chargeback claim to your card provider once it's clear that the agent isn't going to meet their legal obligations, i.e. 14 days after cancellation....

    It took me 25 weeks to get my refund - 10 weeks sounds good! :)

    Oh no don't say that! Hoping we get it before 10 weeks. Currently on week 5!

    My refund from a different company took about 3 months in all. The hotel was refunded immediately, it was the flight refund that took forever because the company were waiting to beg it back from the airline first.
    All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

    Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
