Oven stopped working- just over 12 months old

Hi all,
Purchased an oven from Curry's last year ( Feb 2020 ), the oven has developed a fault and is not heating up - hob is working 

Have contacted Curry's and they have said that as we are over 12 months that the only option to us is pay for them to fix the issue

Before I agree to this can someone let me know if this is the case? I would argue that you would reasonably expect an oven to last over one year.

Is there something in particular we should be referencing to them?

You can exercise your consumer rights to force them to take action (if the oven is faulty but not through misuse) but it's probably faster, easier and inexpensive to buy and fit a new element, which I suspect is the problem component.  It will take time and money to get an inspection to prove the fault is Currys' to sort out.
