Barclays CIFAS marker

So I tried to open a Barclays current account, it got accepted then 2 days later I received a message to say they had closed my account with no explanation why. Couple of weeks later after being declined for numerous other accounts I decided to check my cifas report and low and behold Barclays had placed a fraud marker on my account for not being on the electoral roll and for adverse credit (which I do have on my report but isn’t recent) 🤷🏼♀️ Didn’t even know they was reasons for fraud markers but anyway it’s absolutely ridiculous and I disputed it with them and asked them to remove it. Received a phone call today to say they were refusing to remove it but can’t tell me why so I’ve to contact the FO. Does anyone have any experience of this and can tell me if they will agree to get it removed for me? I’ve submitted a complaint on their website today.
Thanks in advance

Those aren't reasons for fraud markers, so you need to get to the bottom of exactly which marker(s) they've placed - Barclays should be willing to tell you but you can also find out from CIFAS: https://www.cifas.org.uk/contact-us/subject-access-requestNatalielaw21 said:Barclays had placed a fraud marker on my account for not being on the electoral roll and for adverse credit (which I do have on my report but isn’t recent) Didn’t even know they was reasons for fraud markers1 -
Yes - it suggests they falsely answered questions about having any adverse credit on the application form.eskbanker said:

There is every possibility that your applications were rejected because you applied for numerous other credit accounts in a very short space of time. Every application for a current account counts as an application for credit, even if you don't apply for an overdraft.0 -
What exactly was the marker ?

That’ll depend on what marker they’ve used. OP what marker has been placed on your file? 1st party fraud? Adverse credit is not a reason for a CIFAS marker.colsten said:

First Party Fraud: this involves the promise of future repayment in exchange for goods or services, but with no intent to repay. This can remain on your file for up to six years.Or
Application Fraud: this is where an application is made in the individual’s name, but false details, such as salary, address or employment is included. It may also include falsified documents. This can remain on your file for up to six years.Seem to be the most likely two markers. Probably the latter.0
