ebico comeback?
In my ongoing efforts to resolve the ongoing saga of BG trying to collect the massively inflated charge Robin Hood invented before ,deservedly, going bust, I've been Googling "ebico" amongst other things.
I was quite surprised to find a functioning website with a statement saying "they'll be back",part of it cut and pasted below, this was dated 25th of January this year.

"Many will be aware that a Court-appointed Administrator is now in charge of our supply partner, Robin Hood Energy. Whilst this is sad news, we would like to reassure everyone that we, at Ebico, remain very much in business. We have not been taken over by British Gas and we will be returning to the energy market very soon."

https://ebico.org.uk/administration-of-robin-hood-energy-ltd/ for those wondering.
Ebico are a company in their own right so British Gas wouldn't have purchased the company.
Ebico don't have their own supply license though so them re-entering the market is all dependent on them either securing one, or finding a supplier which would agree to have them as a white label supplier.
If they do re-enter the market then there's no guarantee they'll offer a £0 SC tariff again. If they do, then they'll likely add in the 'minimum usage' back to it to cancel out the risk of having too many 10kWh EAC customers.1 -
SSE will not take them back after they sh*t on them when they got into bed with Robin Hood.0

2.0265p per kWh, Daily Charge 28.497p, what's not to like? The daily charge (unless you use vast quantities of gas, which I don't particularly in summer).0

Really don't see the point if its essentially just a relabelled octopus energy. With so significant difference in prices....why not go straight to octopus. Wheres the USP?1

The USP used to be no daily charge, which was great if you were a low energy user. I suppose it depends on the deal they get from Octopus as to what they can do with it.

What I meant is I dont really understand their purpose now. Are they just relying on previous brand image to attract people in and get more customers for octopus essentially? I dont see if being any better.0 -
I guess it comes down to identifying a niche that Octopus doesn't, or doesn't want to, service.I was with Ebico for many years before they split with SSE. They were excellent and really did answer the phone before it had rung three times.1
