Blocking up hole in wall where gas fire was - and fitting new electric fire

Hello there
I am hoping someone with some knowledge might be able to advise me.
We have had the old gas fire removed and capped off and are hoping to fit an electric fire

However not sure how to do this - how do we get rid of the small hole that has been left behind by the gas fire?  The only thing I can think is to get a plasterer to board and skim, and fit the new electric fire on to this

But I am not sure, and would appreciate advice, please

Typo at a guess.  They mean 'fit the new electric...' as they mentioned that initially.

stuart45 No I dont have a photo but there really is nothing much to see -  it is basically just an eight inch square hole in the brick, where the previous fire vented I think.

Sounds like a few bricks built in would do the job, although you need to consider ventilation for the flue.

May I ask why you have taken the gas fire out to replace with electric?

Is it just for a focal look/ornamental. I assume you have central heating?

I would block the top of the chimney with 100mm insulation and expanding foam, then board over the opening.
