The vendor has also lost money, they will have to pay their solicitors fees for work to date and likely some of the Estate agents costs. They will also have paid search fees for any property they were going to buy.  I would guess they have spent st least £1000 probably more. If a vendor pulls out at this stage there is usually a valid reason

can my daughter recoupe any off the monies paid out, for surveys land searches etc some off which was borrowed from the bank off daddy which was to be paid back on release of the mortgage funds.. can they do this  its not fair ..
Until exchange either party can pull out for no reason, so no - nothing can be reclaimed.
Whoever told your daughter that life was fair was lying - it isn't.
When I was very young I used to say “it’s not fair” about a lot of things.  My father used to reply “what’s not fair, a dark horse?”.  I got the message eventually,  life’s not always fair
To be 'fair,' the media are always banging-on about things not being fair for some individual or group, leading the more impressionable to believe that perhaps fairness is truly attainable.
The post above reminds me of a certain young lady who's been recently waling that they didn't know what they were getting into by marrying into a very special family; probably the most talked-about one in the world. It's not like her research was hampered by lack of information! Similarly, it's always good for those embarking on purchasing the most expensive thing they'll buy, to read up on what it may  involve, including all the pitfalls that might befall them.

The delay was on the venders side the hold up was caused by their chain collapsing which meant that had to start again..
    Not the vendor's fault, then.
