Ring DoorBell Pro Hard wiring to Byron Chime

Hi
My builder have been attempting to wire the the Ring door Bell Pro to the Byron Chime 776 that is a compatible chime using the ring doorbell bypass kit..
Unfortunately at the moment, there seems to be a 15 second delay from when the bell is pressed to the the chime sounding. In addition chime seems to be making a voltage buzzing noise.
Does this wiring see correct?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

The clue is in the name "bypass kit" - it is compatible because it bypasses your existing Byron ding dong chime, you won't get a Byron 776 working with a Ring Doorbell Pro although it will work with the non-Pro models - ie Ring Doorbell 1/2/3 models.

The pro comes with a plug in chime in the UK for this reason, just use that instead. This is because the Pro needs a 24v ac power supply which is typical in the USA for doorbells but not the UK. The Byron only gives 8v ac which is not enough, so instead you bypass your existing transformer with the new Ring one to feed 24v ac and also bypass the existing chime which isn't suitable to operate on 24v ac.

Looks to be wired totally wrong as well - this is the correct bypass wiring for you model - your builder has made a pigs ear of it by the look of your photo. Don't let them touch your electricals ever again - they don't even know how to securely put a wire in a screw terminal. If the builder has done any other electrical work on your house, also get that checked by a qualified electrician.

Potentially a hazard from what you have described, the buzzing sound could be because 24v ac is passing through the solenoid to power the Ring door bell and the Byron is only rated for 8v ac so not good. Hard to see what the builder has done without knowing which wires are carrying the 24v ac, if he has wired it wrong and passing 24v ac to the secondary of the transformer then there could be 750v on the primary side- very dangerous, maybe that is the buzzing noise. Can't understand what he has connected to terminals 1 and 3 as these are not required.

I would turn it all off now at the mains and get a qualified electrician rather than a builder to install it or get a non-Pro Ring Doorbell 2/3 which you can install yourself and it will work perfectly with your Byron chime and not need the new power supply.

Also ensure the doorbell is configured correctly in the app to specify no existing doorbell if you stick with the Pro.

I wanted a chime connected so it worked without an internet connection but gave up in the end. Just get 24v to the Pro. It does need a good wifi connection to work well. The whole system does seem a bit like 'work in progress' rather than 'job done'. Good but way off perfect.
