Just ordered the GHIC card, wonder what are healthcare costs in other countries like?

I've just ordered the GHIC card and was wondering about it's benefits after thinking about it a bit more. For instance if you didn't have this card or Travel Insurance, would you just be refused treatment at a state hospital in the EU? or would you have to pay full cost as if in a private hospital?

I also wondered which countries charge their citizens most and how much even for state hospitals, just to have an idea if when visiting there what the charges might be like for say an x-ray or some tests? would it be a percentage amount or a fixed cost? I hope some people on the board might be knowledgeable about this. Thanks
