I was given a company car. Which will be reflected in my tax code. A good indication that I wasn't a casual employee.
I'm afraid it isn't. Company cars can be given to anyone the employer chooses. I'm afraid you are clutching at straws here.
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

My next step would be to tie all the figures together in a spreadsheet (or similar), determine how much I was owed (if in fact I am owed anything) and put the discrepancy to my former employer.  If I got nowhere I'd be preparing* a small claim for underpayment of wages - easier than going to an employment tribunal - but you have to accept you might just be joining a long queue of people they (he) owes money to, and end up with nothing.

*Might as well start preparing now so you are ready to go.  From what I've read here about your employer I doubt you'll get satisfaction from them.

EDIT:  If your employer goes bust, I think unpaid employee wages may be some sort of priority debt?  Others will know better than me...
  • This may not be what you want to hear. If your employer in any way is being colourful with obligations regarding minimum payments, furlough or any type of remuneration, I would start looking for a new job and fast. You are unlikely to get any form of material change that results in you getting what you think or feel you are owed. You can always pursue this latter if you feel you have been wronged.
