When is a 12 month contract not a 12 month contract?!

They are now stating that it's '12 payments not 12 months' . There is nothing that states this is there in what's listed in part 2. As it goes I could get both medical records and record that I 'started universal credit since the membership was taken out ' . Would these be enough to stop them in their tracks as far as escalating it goes? Or is this company likely to do it anyway?
Thanks

Up to you which route you take, but you are on solid ground on the 12 months matter. I'd just tell them the 12 month contract period has ended and you will not be paying anything beyond any payment you're obliged to pay under the notice period.
If they want to pursue you for the eight monthly payments through small claims action, they can. I can't see that they'd succeed and to be honest, I can't see they'd bother.
If you think the medical/UC route is easier, fair enough.1
