Depends on property value and whether you can submit it online or not (can't if it's a first registration or transfer of part, which is what most newbuilds would be).

But it's not just that you didn't shop around. Apparantly you didn't even look at the fees quoted by the solicitor you chose.

Will make sure I read all the T and Cs of everything going forward. 

Errr... applies to any contract you sign.
