Is this Engine Oil ok for my Nissan Juke?

had it in the garage from my old car for a few years. Looking on various websites they recommend a synthetic 5w-30 oil (but other brands). Happy to buy another brand if need be but this should be alright shouldn't it?0

The only advice is to check your handbook as from your post we have no idea which Juke you have.0

If it's the 1.5dci Renault engine requiring RN0700 or RN0701 then I think you need Comma Syner-G 5W-40, at least that's what we always used.0

Much also depends on how/where it has been stored. Opened/unopened etc.. "for a few years"Some oil manufacturers do recommend a maximum shelf life. I would check on Comma's website which might advise. Of course they could have a vested interest in selling more oil! Some do print an expiry on the container, including Comma, "5 years after production date."You may also enter your registration to see recommendations for your vehicle.

Assuming you need 5W30, that one you have will be fine, particulary if your only adding a small amount to top up whats aleardy in there.1

Yeah it's just to top up, opened the bottle about a year ago. Does a service normally include topping up oil? Had a full service in October but didn't ask.0

It should include an oil change.united4ever said:Yeah it's just to top up, opened the bottle about a year ago. Does a service normally include topping up oil? Had a full service in October but didn't ask.0 -
It wouldn't normally include additional oil to top up after the service if that's what you are asking. The oil should be replaced as part of the serviceunited4ever said:Yeah it's just to top up, opened the bottle about a year ago. Does a service normally include topping up oil? Right, I get the car serviced every year. Do modern cars really need an intermittent top up. I only do 3k miles a year roughly.0

What makes you think the car needs a top up? Have you checked the dipstick?0

No, the dash says halfway, barely changed. The guy I bought it off said he topped it up every 12 months so I feel like I should be doing sonething but maybe I don't then.0
