in Credit cards
morning all
'tis my first post on this board so be gentle with me
i have been thinking that there is little point in me using my debit card, when i get no reward for it. i am looking for a card that will give me something tangible back.
i am a student, and currently have the hsbc mastercard student CC, which i took out for emergencies and have never used. they gave me a limit of £500, based on the fact that i was a student, and did not take my income (approx 4-6k per annum) into account (ok its not a lot, but you have to start somewhere). my bank balance is healthy, and i have never touched my overdraft. i have no debts, no other CCs/store cards, and as such probably no debt history (which i believe may make it harder to get credit?)
i am after a card that offers a reward for money spent (i would use it as a debit card, clearing the outstanding balance in full each month). i want a card with no annual charges, no minimum spend to qualify for reward (even with the ones asking for 3k spend in a year - im not sure i would spend that much), but a tangible reward. at the mo the onlly one that i have found that i may be eligible for is the tesco CC.
i was just wondering if there are any cards you guys can recommend that may fit the bill?
thanks for taking the time to read this, im looking forward to your responses

I got a Morgan Stanley card as a student with a limit of £750. It pays 1% cashback on the first £2000 spent each year (doubled to 2% for first 3 months) and 0.5% above that.
For most people this isn't a great offer but if, like me, you probably struggle to spend much more than £2000 a year on a credit card it's great. Plus if you don't like the colour scheme you can get it in a range of national flags - I've got a particularly fetching St. Andrews cross
Cashback is paid annually, no minimum spend, added to your statement if its less than £10, paid by cheque if its more than £10 (I think)
If you apply through Rpoints you get an extra £12.50 cashback :j0 -
many thanks for that jim, i'll look into it. seems much more appropriate to my circumstances than the ones martin discusssed in his articleknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
