Vodafone Broadband router, want to utilise Velop mesh...

Hi all,
onto my next technical issue. I know nothing much about router set-ups, though have fumbled through in the past.
I just moved over to Vodafone Fibre. I was with Virgin but they got too expensive - no problem with reliability, perhaps I have that to look forward to! Who can say for sure...
So, best advice (=most straight-forward) I could find online was this, but yet to try as wanted opinion if it seems sound:
"You don't need to unlock the Openreach modem or make any config changes to it at all. The Username & Password are entered in the WAN section of (any) "cable" (not xDSL) Router via PPPoE, and the default settings on the Openreach device will work fine. I tested this out on my VF VDSL connection with my HG612..."
My Velop is a cable router so it could be simple...?...
So any help deciphering the above would be welcome. e.g. "The username and password" - does this mean the vodafone router admin username and password?
Any other useful related info welcome. Or alternative views. Bonus points is you've had direct practical experience ;-)

Alternative thread offered this - but maybe relates to an xDSL Velop:
"...I already had a Linksys Velop system and struggled initially to get it setup but I'm pleased to report that it's now working and I have removed the Vodafone router. The key part was being able to find out the VLAN number and include this when running through the setup.
I did have to get the username and password for the account from an online web chat team - but they provided it after advising they didn't recommend it... without that VLAN number, my initial setup didn't work.... once I entered that, it's running great"
