Thanks SH, but thanks to my DH who just doesn't seem to be getting it that everything is skyrocketing in price and we don't have the luxury of spare cash, we're already on the back foot for september. He bought concert tickets for a band we both like as a 'treat' for next summer. To be fair he really doesn't usually buy anything but was trying to be thoughtful as it was srll out situation. Unfortunately they were £150 for 2 tickets by the time booking fees etc added and had he asked I'd have told him we don'thavethat kind of cash at the moment.
We had a bit of an argument about it as I kept saying do you not realise things are dodgy money wise at the moment? (Although I feel I keep going on about prices so I don't know how he failed to notice my worry over money) and he kept saying, 'but you'll find the money, you always have wee pots of money tucked away.'
Not any more DH, not any more. Everything has been hoovered up by car and house repairs, school uniforms and ill cats. I can't just magic money out of the thin air. He now feels guilty and I now feel bad about making him feel guilty!
I had earmarked £75 to start building up a sinking fund so that's gone and the other 75 will just need to come from any savings I can make over the month.
Oh and DD1 announced last night her dance shoes are burst (and they're beyond repair) so that was another £20.
I refuse to be beaten, I will make it through this 5 week month that isn't even in September yet without debt. Happy long weekend everyoneWeight loss goal 6/7lbs for first quarter

It is hard when we live with people that don't 'get it' and maybe never will.
It sounds like his heart was in the right place in wanting to give you a gift - even if it was poorly timed.
Hopefully he had now heard you and will adjust...Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
