Transfer of shares to beneficiary

I’m executor for my late mother. She had some shares with Standard Life that didn’t have a share certificate.
I can’t work out how to transfer them to her beneficiary. The SL website doesn’t have a contact for that sort of thing. All I can find is some forms on the Computer Share website but they all say “I have not applied for probate”, which I have for other things.

I think you have to start by registering the death with Computershare - just send them a letter to the Bristol address, accompanied by a copy of the Grant of Probate.
You could phone them first to check that that is the correct procedure -
EDIT.....Presumably, if there is no share certificate, they are held as nominee shares. However, according to the Computershare website they only hold nominee shares in Standard CHARTERED, not Standard LIFE, so I'm not quite sure where your shares are......!Telephone: +44 (0)370 889 4076#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660 -
If the shares are in Standard Life ABERDEEN, the Registrar seems to be Capita/Link Asset Services

Have you asked the beneficiary if they want the shares, or would prefer them to be sold and receive cash?0

If the shares do indeed have Computershare as the registrars, then I can confirm the process is as JGB1955 says - you need to request a bereavment pack from them - they'll require sight of the probate grant if you;ve applied or there are other forms you can fill in if you didn;t need probate.I presume you've already located their FAQs page ?

These sound like the old demutualisation shares. If selling, have a look at https://ww2.linkassetservices.com/share-deal/companies/standard-life-aberdeen/Keep_pedalling said:Have you asked the beneficiary if they want the shares, or would prefer them to be sold and receive cash?Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
