Tax on late father’s pension pay out

I am sole beneficiary on my late father’s estate and recently received a payment from his pension company due to a Equal Share payout, there was tax deducted before the payment was sent. Question is can I claim that tax back. I do not work due to ill health.

Not sure what relevance your employment position is to your late father's tax affairs.
But in any case there is no tax refund due for tax deducted after the individual dies.

Surely it depends on the type of pension payout, the estate being a red herring here. An inherited pension is taxed on the recipient's affairs rather than that of the deceased. https://www.gov.uk/claim-tax-refund
