One option is to look for a procedure for a "formal complaint" on the bank's website. If it's not there or if it doesn't solve your issues satisfactorily, you can contact the financial ombudsman.0

I agree with the sentiment. Many people feel that they are doing sufficient research by checking which bank is most desperate for cash and is paying the highest interest rate.
