looking for ideas for lawn reinforcing

hi folks as title, looking for something to reinforce lawn, its where i access the back garden and have compost bins, water containers etc.as its just dirt only weeds growing
i tried that reinforced matting that toolstation sell comes in 10m x 1m lengths but that never worked (either lawn mower hit it or was tripping hazard, maybe not enough pins but i had lots around/inside mesh)
was looking at plastic grid paving and back fill with soil/seed, are there any homemade options?
area is 10sq m, so not large, don't want matting or astro turf as think it will come up as i take mower/areator etc over the top of it

Any chance of a picture? Would help pinpoint if the problems are entirely wear-based or if sunlight/soil are problems too.0
