Went to take a look at this as have not visited the forum for well over a year.
but, apparently, I have been ‘banned’.
No idea why, when or how this has happened and there does not seem to be any way to find out. Is it because I’ve not visited for a long time ???
Anyone else in a similar position ?

Have you tried to create a new user account on the forum?  You could then ask the administrators by private message about the status of your original account.  You'll get a more accurate response than asking on the MSE forum!

Anyway, you need a user account only if you wish to create a new post on the forum - you can still read content of the forum without an account, just like this MSE forum.  (Except the DD Central sub-forum which is accessible only to DD Central-authorised members - is that what you've lost?)

It may not be personal. There is a thread on there about IP address blocks and VPNs being banned due to misbehaviour, and you may have got caught up in that.

Only time I've had  problem is when using a VPN.
