I would be grateful to any one who could help with my problem
I now have an all new PC because my old PC crashed
It would not boot up and no lights came on.
My question is how can i recover data from my old PC's hard drive (as luck would have it i did not backup anything)
thank you in anticipation
There are two ways of recovering you lost data depending upon the hard drive crash your hard drive has suffered. If you are not able to access the data from the hard drive then you can attach it on different computer and get back your hard. If it still not possible then you can take the help of data recovery software which will help you in getting back your lost data. Data recovery software are helpful in the following case- recovery data from formatted hard drive, or data lost due to viruses, software malfunction, file/directory deletion or even sabotage. Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software helped me in recovering my stuff from formatted hard drive. Worked perfectly well for me.
If your hard drive has suffered a physical crash then you have to consult for data recovery service company. It an expensive method but there is no other way out if the head or platter has been crashed or damage.0 -
if you know how to open new pc and install old hdd as slave then you should be able to see the hdd and files on your old drive by going to my computer etc. If theres problems with the hdd download a copy of getbackdata
http://www.runtime.org/products.htm
this is only a trial version and wont allow you to copy the files but will tell you if your files are recoverable before spending any money.
If you are not that techie then grab one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=48965&C=Maplin&U=SearchTop&T=usb&doy=14m12 from maplins as they are on special offer at the moment £15 off so only £25, you can also use getbackdata on these too.
Also maplin do a seven 7 money back guaruntee so if it does not work you can return it.
I'm pretty much confined to barracks at the moment so will be online a lot so if you want some help on msn etc then just pm me.0 -
if the Hard disk is ok then this will allow you to access via USB

I am having the same problem as the OP. I have a PC that heeds a system restore. Before i do that however i need to get some documents off the hard drive. Now i am quite technically proficient but this seems to be a bit beyond me! will the above work?? i've seen the same in Maplin but a lot more expensive. Anyone used one of these before?

a system restore wont affect any files or documents you have on hdd it will just remove any installed programs etc so really you dont need to get files off.
As i said above the usb devices are £25 in maplins at the moment in the sale but maplins also offer a seven day money back guaruntee.
My offers of help is open to you too via msn or whatever if you need it, just give me a shout via pm0 -
Sent you a PM now.

Photorec recovers all MS Office files, PDF documents and all known photographic file types. Best of all is it is absolutley free.
Best paid-for prog has to be Easus Data Recovery Wizard Pro. It not only recovers the data, but re-builds the folder structure too, so you can easily find you missing files.
Spinrite looks good (haven't tried it yet though), uses the HDD's S.M.A.R.T technology to fix bad sectors and re-build the corrupted data.Never Knowingly Understood.
