Work your way around the circuits and see which one is flashing the most on the meter...

I have discovered that on average the air source uses 40kw per day, the hot tub uses 20kw per day and the remaining electricity used is 27kw per day. Based on electric being £0.155 per kw.
    Any ideas?
That seems to account for your £400 bill, so you are just not sure where the 27kWh is going each day?
The underfloor heating you mentioned could be a big part of that if it is electric?
Otherwise work your way around the other circuits using the technique Gerry described and see where the high use is happening...

yes, exactly. I've eliminated the biggest usages of both the air source and hot tub and am still burning through 27kwh per day. I also checked and isolated the UFH but that only uses minimal electric for the pump.
So the UFH is gas heated water pumped around yes?
27 kWh is just over 1kW for each and every hour, pretty high background usage.

Does your air source heatpump heat your hot water and pump hot water around the underfloor heating system. If so then I'd expect it to get through a significant amount of power at this time of the year 30-50kwh/day or more is probably about right when it's very cold outside depending on it's settings and how your heating controls are set. It's consumption will vary according to the weather and so far this year it's been a lot colder than the past couple of years - My heatpump has used about 200kwh more than average in both Jan & Feb

20kwh a day for a hot tub - well, there's not much you can do there except turn it down or turn it off. That's a self inflicted luxury.

However you need to have a serious look at your 27kwh a day - thats extremely high - most people would use around 8-10, possibly a bit more when using the washing machine or tumble dryer etc. You nee to have a careful look at what is in use, whats been left on and what you've been doing differently (lots more cooking perhaps, anyone using portable heaters, more showers etc). What about lots of TV's, computer and playstations all running during the day
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • Depending on the usage the hottub the one we hired is using 32kw per day in April (we are actually using 40kw p/d but 8kw is on the other electricals) . We once had a faulty fridge that was really hot at the back and that zapped energy. A well insulated new build 5 bed with ASHP with u/f if left on I would expect a £1200-1400 max electric bill per annum without a hot tub

My heat pump averaged 50.3 kWh/day in January, 40.6 kWh/day in February and 22.1 kWh/day in March.  The numbers you get can vary a lot according to the outside temperature so you should be clear about the time period over which you are taking your averages.  The heat pump accounts for the bulk of our electricity consumption, which used to average about 8 kWh per day when we had an oil boiler.
