I have switched my complete M&S account without any issue, using the CASS switching service, about a month ago. Though not to Barclays. Where is the information about only partial switches allowed?

I’ve just spent a week trying to switch my M&S current account to Barclays. M&S only allow a partial switch under the Current Account Switch Service, not a full switch. This means that although all your direct debits etc are transferred, you still have to transfer any credit balance and close the old account yourself. Pointless. Talk about half a job. Interestingly, the Barclays advisor I spoke to said I was the second customer she’d spoken to today who had exactly this issue.  Come on M&S. You’ve sacked us off despite being loyal customers for years, the least you can do is let us go the most convenient way under the CASS scheme which is specifically designed for this purpose.
I've just put through a full switch from m&s so it's definitely possible from their end. If Barclays has an issue it must be on their side
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

My full switch from M&S to Barclays went through today.

Switch completed fine but despite what the CS person said, the Monthly Saver hasn’t closed “automatically”.

Will see what happens later today.

Edit: seems the money hasn’t arrived in Barclays yet, maybe they need to manually deal with the savings account first.

Money now arrived in Barclays, no sign of the Monthly Saver cash which is still showing in the M&S account.

I've just initiated the closure of my Monthly Saver (and cancellation of the SO into the Monthly Saver).

I got through via telephone straight away a few minutes ago - it was a quick process.

The closure and interest should be completed tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.

Looks like a case for a formal complaint to me. You are likely to have difficulties transferring the RS money out if you don't have a current account any longer. They need to transfer it for you, complete with the full interest, and £25 or so for the extra trouble caused.

Have you rung M&S to query this?

Yes, they said it will be done later today by the “closure team”.

If I have to ring again then I’ll ask for compensation for wasting time, but I’ve not lost anything yet other than having to listen to the M&S hold music.....

I was told on Saturday that the MS closure would take a few days, it normally does anyway so nothing lost.  The balance of my current account was tranferred to my TSB account immediately.

EDIT - just checked on the app and it's showing no accounts.  My TSB account shows the £3K in it although there's only 21p interest. :)  I'm sure it'll turn up soon, they must be innundated.

Money arrived at 19:17, although only £39.82 interest.  I was expecting £44.68.....
