Jen from Philipines was excellent, took 20 minutes with checking with supervisor.
    This made me smile
Do M&S have a call centre in the Philippines now?
Or do they just use Manila envelopes?
A lot of HSBC stuff has moved from India to Philippines. Guess they do it a lot cheaper than India now :)

Better time zone for Asian markets. China is the growth market.
Time zone makes no difference. The staff in India work UK time, not local time so their shifts finish in the early hours of the morning.
My reference was to the future. The key is in the bank's name.

Are people getting their full interest now? Is it safe to go for closure?

    That's what I had hoped.
Regrettably it was still showing at 9p this morning, so I've just rung them.
Adviser said it was an error, that other customers had also rung with similar queries, and that all such queries were being referred by email to a team to correct them and send a further payment of the missing interest.

& £44.81 went in overnight as 'CR INT CORRECTION'  :)

My monthly saver matured yesterday, so I didn't get any interest in advance, just interest at closure of £44.86.

I've already transferred one of my direct debits. The only other dd is for my m&s credit card. I shall switch my current account along with this remaining DD but may not keep my credit card in the future; it depends on the new m&s scheme.

Yesterday requested MS closure 3 payments short of a full year. Principal transferred  immediately and today received inexplicable £44.88 interest too (my calculations were £41,25 (@2.75%), so won't be complaining.
    Phone or online?

Phone. The call got through promptly and once started talking to the CS rep (James)  took less than 5 minutes. Still can't figure out how they arrived at the £44.88 figure , but will live with the li'l extra. Sadly, was not in the same boat as:

    ........
£25 goodwill credit on top as an apology to resolve the complaint - the constant calls, being hung up on, the mixed messages, unclear information, no returned calls. Oh and for being the first to raise the issue.
    Very well done!

I’m still waiting in spite of an hour on chat three hours ago and a promise to calculate the interest. Closed Friday and some are reporting closing yesterday and getting the interest today. Think I should complain!
