I keep track of stuff like this in AceMoney. The Schedule function allows me to enter them as recurring payments. They then appear as future transactions in the relevant account, with an estimated amount. When I look at the account, I see it coming up and take appropriate action. (For example, my motor insurance needed to be renewed on 24 February. In late January, I saw it coming and researched available policies.) Once the actual payee and amount were known, I edited the payment details appropriately and marked it as paid. I'll do the same again next year.

I assume that other similar programs (for example, MS Money or Money Manager EX) offer similar functionality.

That's what I do, too. Everything 'money management' is in one single single place

    Simple methods:
Write them on a calendar on your kitchen wall.
Put them in Google Calendar on your phone or computer - set them to repeat at the required interval and remind you maybe a fortnight before then a couple of days before.
    Less simple methods:
Use a budgeting or finance app or software.
I'm glad you're not MY accountant!!!!!

Any help appreciated (p.s. as an Accountant I would prefer it to be NON excel based if poss).
An accountant that doesn't know how to use a calendar or diary?
    Good grief.

I use a good task manager app because this allows me to put categories, priorities, alarms, repeats etc.
It's nothing specifically financial for me.

Currently I use "ToDo list task manager" from "Mike's Android Workshop" on my phone. It's got free and paid versions.

  • I use ColorNote Notepad.  This also works as Notepad + Reminders, works well. Try it out.
