Fine and points for parking on zig zag lines, do I have a case to dispute?

Hello, I accidently stopped on a side road that had a zebra crossing. I was near the yellow lines and the zig zag lines. It was at night so I couldn't see well and I just finished a shift of my other job so I was tired. I left my car to deliver a parcel for a few moments and returned to a policeman who issued me a fine and 3 penatly points. This is my first offence ever. He kept mentioning a course and I asked about it. I thought I would be going a course instead of the fine and points but now they are saying there is no such course for this offence. The policeman lied to me and also called the crossing a 'pecan' crossing, which doesn't exist. On my dashcam he was right behind me and looked at me as I was walking to the location He didn't flash his lights or warn me to move. They were in a black unmarked car. Do I have any case to dispute this as this was my first offence, he mentioned a going on a driver retraining course, made no effect to warn me or get me to move as he was talking to me. The fine is a lot of money to me and my insurance premiums would go up. I am a delivery driver for work and this would affect my costs and my ability to find work for the next 3-4 years.

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for police tickets. Register there but please note that a hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering and post a new thread; here's your link:

Have a read through some of the other threads there before you post your own to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the police (both sides, if appropriate) as they need to see all the small print.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

After sending off my licence to get the points. I received a letter from the police to say that no action is being taken on me and the points will be removed and fine refunded. So yeah this policeman is an idiot.

Maybe he meant a Pelican crossing, but hey, it was cancelled so he clearly did something wrong!
