I only said "should't", not "must not"... The problem with gypsum plaster (including PB), is when it gets mixed with organic matter in a landfill, it produces hydrogen sulphide which is one of those nasty greenhouse gasses.
Last time I did any serious building work, :) sweepings off the floor ended up in the bin - It might have included a small amount of PB.... :*

You really shouldn't be putting building waste (especially PB) in with your household bin....
" really shouldn't ",  in your earlier post comes very close to "must not".

Also hydrogen sulphide would have been produced during the alternative 2 hour OP "tip trip" .

I tried to help the OP, you just criticised my post. Surprising, as from your threads you are "one of the good guys".  :)

    OP good luck, your thread.

Thanks for trying to help. I am not convinced it won't end up in a landfill anyway. I went through great lengths to take my empty paint tins to the recycling centre as per the instructions and they asked if they were empty (I said yes) and then said 'thanks' and tossed them in the general garbage bin. Great.

I don't have a car either so I have to persuade someone else to sit in the queue for 2 hours as it's car only.

Anyway... I'll worry about that. The real problem is what to do, and I think I am just going to put this task off and install the flooring in the hallway and Future Me can deal with it.
