E.I.C.R Upgrades

Options
Hi,
A qualified registered electrician carried out the EICR and has advised that some work is necessary to pass the property rather than a full rewire due to the fact I have tenants within the property.
The electrician will need to;
a). Trace and repair the break for the CPC (earth) on the lighting circuit.
b). Reconnect and also disconnect earth in the kitchen and bathroom downlights and enclose connections
c). Re-clip an unsupported cable in the garage
quote for the work listed to be done is £576 inc of VAT, there was also a separate charge of £120inc VAT to carry out the EICR, total cost will be: £696
I'm based in Oldham (North West).
Is the price quoted reasonable ? (I feel its slight too much but need your opinions)
Are there any questions which I need to bat back ?

Much appreciated,
Al.

    I have a property that needed a EICR & I paid £160 but no issues were found so the price for EICR is about right. For the rest of the work I would say did the electrician explain to you what the fault was & how it would be put right plus how long it would take. Or did you think the electrician was taking the !!!!. If you feel the electrician is being fair then go with it follow your instinct.

    It's cheap. This is an economically depressed area and yet we charge £200 for a bog-standard domestic EICR. (Across the border we charge €300 +VAT @ 13.5% for a bog-standard PIR, which is the equivalent.)
    As for the other works it's hard to envisage precisely what's involved, but £120 inc. VAT you say - i.e. £100 - for an EICR is ludicrously cheap.

    Pay for the EICR £120.

    If a cpc break has been found he / she (pc), will most likely have a rough idea of where the break is. Cpc breaks can create an unusual symptom for testing.

    £576 could be a bit steep. Why not enquire about day / hour rates.
