O/S Daily Wednesday 3 March 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, cool start to the day but dry underfoot.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was egg, bacon, sausage, fried mash, beans and mushrooms. I remembered to get the chicken out to defrost - that is safely in the fridge, tonight I'll make that into a chicken and mushroom pie and served it with mash, peas and gravy.
Yesterday work was steady - last working day of the week for me, just want to know now what is happening hopefully there should be things happening next week.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC. They are certainly keeping you hanging on at work.It seems cold here. not that I've been outside, but I can tell by the overall temperature of the house, the heating's not on yet.Well, another day, for all I'm not busy I find that the time does slip away, as do the weeks. I'm going to W*lko today to buy some new play doh for Dgs, for when they're allowed to visit - I've thrown the old stuff out, it was getting crumbly, and had all been squished together, so it was khaki. He'll be pleased to see new colours, he likes colours.I'll go into B&M as well, there may be a bargain or two there.DH will stay in, we are expecting a delivery of a storage thing for the two wheelie bins.Hope everyone has a good day, thinking of the poorly people and those struggling with life. Gers, I hope Mum picks up..Take care folks.17

Morning All
Colder this morning but still dry, lovely to see the sunshine now and again. I gave the grass at the back a trim yesterday, mower on the highest setting and it looks so much better although if there wasn't so much moss it wouldn't be green!
DD got a new to her car yesterday - the little one was sick in it on the first journey, typical! I called in to see them on my way home and she seemed ok but did look a bit peeky. She brought me her boots so we had to go for a little walk to check the drains!!
Work was good and busy yesterday, hoping it's the same today as the time goes in very quickly when there's loads to do. Looks like the rest of the school will be back on the 15th, bet they can't wait.
Hugs to those struggling, thinking of Marie and Ruby especially. Gers, hope your DM improves with her new medication.
I've just done my covid test (we have them twice a week), need to have a cup of tea now. Enjoy Wednesday, take care. XX17 -
Morning folks.
it feels colder here too, hope it warms up a bit more.Scarlet- I eyed up B&M yesterday but didn't have time to go in. I need some baking soda, not the little pots in baking sections of SMs but a larger box or packet for household stuff. I'm sure that it can be got in there.Camelot - good to hear you're back to being busy at work. Poor DGD though.DM still isn't well, the double dose of beta-blocker hasn't kept her heart rate down all the time. We're hanging onto until the GP calls back tomorrow, it's debatable what can be done as DM is adamant about not going back into hospital and I won't be forcing her. She's come through so much I'm hoping she can get through this too.The clips things I bought to hold my duvet in place properly seem to work, so far, no more empty bit at the top. They're like large earrings, got a spike and a button with a little magnetic tube to remove the spike when needed. The danger is losing the tube!My only plan today is to travel across the city to the south side for another lower jaw scan. The dental surgeon wants to see how ready it is for the next stage of the implant process, the little posts are scheduled in for April. I'm excited and nervous by it.My thoughts are with the poorlies and those struggling with lockdown. Happy Wednesday to all.15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Another day of heavy cloud forecast. The sun at the w/e was nice whilst it lasted. I keep going AWOL but as every day is the same, going nowhere seeing no-one, I don't have a lot to say.
GERS I hope the increased meds help your DM. NAN I hope there was reasonably good news for DH yesterday. As you will remember, I was in the same position as you a couple of years back and dreaded every update. Bob was the same as your DH in that whatever will be will be but I did the worrying for both of us. Thoughts are with everyone else, the poorlies, convalescents or just p ***d off. Take care one and all and be safe x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"15 -
Morning all and thank you for starting the thread nmlc.
A bit of a grey day forecast here, no plans. I have washed the kitchen floor, one-handed and eaten some breakfast, granola with yogurt. OH is off at the butchers buying posh meat for DS.
I have now cooked 2 meals, one spaghetti carbonara with a bit of help draining the pasta and last night made meatballs in onion and dill sauce. I cheated and used the food processor to mix the meatballs. I have made hummus and refried beans too, to serve with various meals. And cleaned the bathroom and done some hoovering.
That's about all I have managed so far but it is a start.
Nan I hope your husband's review was positive and Gers, hope your DM picks up.
Hope everyone has a good day.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back15 -
Morning all! Munching my way through some toast before I start making a cake. Architect visit was good, feel like we're finally on the starting blocks to get the house done.Dropped off OH at work, it takes a grand total of five minutes to drive there. He'll be cycling next week and I did notice nice big cycle paths set far back from the road so I was quite pleased about that. My sister and I also finally got going with a headstone for my parents, we've agreed on the wording, now we need to agree on a photo. Should be OK, I'm not that contentious. And I'm halfway through turning my spaghetti western poncho back into wool balls. I don't know if I can get any more exciting....Although I am on my second cup of tea so at least I'll have something to wee myself with...Gers, that sounds really nice, might give that a go, I do like a bit of fennel. AOD, glad you're on the mend a bit, take car eof yourself. Nanny, hugs either for relief or the other....Hey all reading along, hope you're doing as well as you can and remember to give yourselves a break....It's wombat stomping Wdnesday! [ it's not really, wombats are cute looking things that poo square, I was amazed when I found that out! don't stomp them... ]Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi14

Morning all
Not quite so sunny today but not raining which is good. DD had gone to work so its just me and big pup today I am going to attempt to take her over the fields later, its just a short walk on the lead till I can let her off so hopefully she wont pull me too much getting there !!
Chicken casserole for dinner tonight which I will get ready this morning and just shove in the oven later I will do some rice with it.
Got to tidy through this morning and empty and re fill the dw, I will have a sweep through an then mop the floors.
Marie replied to my PM last night, she is not doing so well atm and suffering with ill health. I sent all your love and best wishes to her, hopefully we can keep in touch that way.
Gers I hope your mum shows some improvement xx
Nan I hope the news was good for you both yesterday xx
Hugs to all and stay safe xx15 -
Morning all.
Goodness me we get all aspects of life here, don't we? From where to get large quantities of bicarb to the pooing habits of wombats.
Looks as though the temperatures are heading for a dip this week. I suppose it's only to be expected at the beginning of March. I actually took a handfork out into the wasteland yesterday and dug up half a dozen weeds. Won't be doing that again until it warms up a bit.
I know! Any excuse.
I think I'll be getting the soup-maker out today, the bottom of the fridge needs a clear out. Apart from that we will have to see how the spirit moves. I will try to get it to move me back into the ROD, but it seems a bit fixated on the sofa and knitting at the movement.
Hoping that all those struggling manage to get through today without too much trouble. Especially you Gers. It must be worrying to see your DM so unwell.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
Ruby thank you for letting us know about Marie.
Today I'm sending my hearing aid off to be repaired, hopefully the one I serviced last week will be back soon, Steve is thoroughly fed up with me not being able to hear him.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.15 -
Hello allI'm afraid the news wasn't good yesterday and it has been deemed a necessity to start all the scans again
It felt just like the first time we heard the news about it replaying and now having to start up the endless hospital visits once more. TA I'm sorry that it brought up memories of your lovely Bob and what you both had to endure. I did say I knew I would have to walk in your shoes one day. Hugs xxMany thanks for all your well wishes and concerns, it is much appreciated
Take care all, stay safe and wellnan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently18
