CCJ from parking fine that's not mine!

In a nutshell my then partner got a parking fine for over staying in a restaurant car park. He was in his work van and I was with him. His work forwarded it to his address.
I then appealed it on his behalf as he isn't the best at writing letters. At no point did I say it was my vehicle however stupidly I signed my name.
They then kept chasing me for payment which I did ignore as it was when people were saying they couldn't enforce the debt.
I did write to them via letter as they don't let you call or email but never got a reply. I ended up making instalments as they began threatened a CCJ but seen in my credit file that its too late.
I split with my partner last year and I am now so upset that I am going to be stuck with this for 6 years being a single mum.
Are they able to chase a parking fine from someone who is not the register keeper or driver?
Many thanks!

If they have a CCJ against you, yes. Repost on the motoring boards to see if there's any grounds for a set aside.1

Registered keeper is irrelevant if you signed for it in your own name, it only defaults to the reg'd keeper if no one else accepts liability, which you unfortunately appear to have done.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks @macman is that the case even though I didn't accept liability I stated I was writing on behalf of my ex?0

No, and you may well be able to get this set aside. The NEWBIES thread covers CCJ set asides.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Why do i have to pay £303 to have a CCJ set aside when it's not my car. I dont even know whose car it is. They have got me mixes up with someone else in my family with a similar name0

Are you eligible for "help with fees"?Always remember to abide by Space Corps Directive 39436175880932/B:
'All nations attending the conference are only allocated one parking space.'

FYI, the person liable is the driver. If the parking company does not know the name and address of the driver, the Registered Keeper becomes liable. Who owns the car isn't relevant.kelloggs79 said:Why do i have to pay £303 to have a CCJ set aside when it's not my car. I dont even know whose car it is. If you never catagorically stated you were the driver but they transferred liability to you, then they'll be in bother.
But you have a CCJ because you didn't respond to the court letter. Is this due to the name mixup perhaps? But they definitely didn't claim against your partner? Could he have told them you were the driver?1
