NI - Converting oil to gas?

Hi,
I am in process of buying my first house. The house has oil heating and electric shower. I believe natural gas is available in my area through Firmus Energy (Northern Ireland).
Has anyone here in Northern Ireland went through the process of converting their house from oil heating/electric shower to natural gas? How much may it cost in total, and is it really cheaper to run that buying oil? I would like it for convenience more than anything else, however if it's prohibitively expensive I may need to give up on this idea.

Don't know about NI, but it can't be much different from mainland UK

The first thing to do is ask your local Gas network supplier, ( Firmus? ), how much they will charge to pipe the gas to your house.

That will depend on how far your house is from the nearest Gas Main - Under the pavement outside and a few £100 quid? - A mile way and could be £thousands.

In mainland UK they will visit the property and give a you FREE quote, on from there it's just getting quotes from local Gas Safe plumbers to install the boiler and all the accessories
