Well as OP has not said which Huawei phone they have it's hard to say.
But I have had HSBC running on a P20 Mate & a new (last year purchase) P30 Pro (new edition) which both have Google play store installed.
Running HSBC app with no issues at all.Life in the slow lane0 -

The customer advisor had seemed baffled until another advisor got back to her to say it had become a recent issue with Hawei mobilesThey have opened a complaints investigation so will see how that eventually goes, but think I'll just keep my eye out for the next switch deal to jump to. If they can't seem to get the basics right, I can see why so many others complain about their service.
Huawei is blacklisted in the west now, I would advise getting a new phone.

OP has never answer which phone they have as that make a massive difference to access to Google play. There are work rounds for the phones that do not, but would fully expect banking apps not to work.Life in the slow lane0
