Cancelling mortgage direct debit after completion

We just completed on our sale today and I had a question regarding the direct debit set up for the mortgage.
the direct debit was set up for tomorrow ( 2 March) and we completed today . I spoke to Halifax who said I can cancel the direct debit manually on my online banking and they have put a note on file so that wouldn’t cause any issue . I am however worried this could affect my credit in any way ? We are only completing on our onward purchase on the 19 March and taking a mortgage on that purchase .

Has anyone been in this situation ?

When I completed on my house last year, my direct debit was due to be paid 4 days after settling. My bank told me to leave it as is and they would refund me the extra payment. They paid it back really quickly, after 2 or 3 days of the direct debit being taken.
you’ve already spoken to your bank so it’ll probably be ok but I don’t like to leave that sort of thing in the hands of a bank customer advisor, companies always say to leave the DD in place until they confirm they’ve closed the account.1 -
I would just leave it in place (unless your cashflow is too tight), you'll get the refund of any overpayment almost straight away.1

Cancelling your DD will not affect your credit record asuming you have made all payments up to the Completion date as detailed on the redemption statement.. I'd cancel it.1
