Hotpoint have just sent a whatsapp message saying they don't have an email address and gave me a postal address instead. Which seems strange.0

Not really, it's pretty commonplace for large organisations not to publicise general email addresses like that, they tend to just attract spam and lots of other nonsense. If it's anything formal where you want to prove that you contacted them, you're better to use post anyway.
Or, if they're talking to you on WhatsApp, just use that?1 -
