Car insurance - How long have you continuously lived in the UK?

I came to the UK when I was 2 years old and since then I have been a british citizen.
During renewal, the online form asks me the above question. I have had car insurance for the last 12 years or so and always put since the age of 2 and never asked to show proof!
How do I prove this if asked or is this question not relevant to me?

If you became a British Citizen at the age of 2, were your parents not provided paperwork then? I doubt they'll ask for proof so is probably a moot point. Might be queried if you ever put in a claim, but I expect it is more to do with people who have lived her for a shorter time and may have driving history outside the UK.

OP, you're unlikely ever to be asked to prove it. But yes, the question is  relevant

One for the "cross that bridge when it comes to it" pile. Insurers are going to realise that 2 year olds aren't very good at filing paperwork nor do they tend to have utilities in their name etc. If they ask then ask them at the time of what sort of documents they want.

As above it's unlikely you'll ever be asked, but you'd probably prove it by using copies of your citizenship/naturalisation certificates - which may/may not be easy to get from UKVI depending on when they were issued. I'd personally just leave things as they are until you get asked.

It's unlikely they'd need any proof of you living in the UK consistently more than a few years, so tax records or something showing you were here for the last 5 years would probably be sufficient if they were ever to ask.

I came to the UK from Ireland when I was 14 years old. That was 50 plus years ago. Although born and raised to age 14 in Ireland I am a British citizen as both my parents were British. I have lived in the UK ever since I was 14.

I have probably taken out over one hundred insurance policies for cars, motor bikes, houses etc. I just fill in the forms accurately answering all questions. I cannot recall ever being asked for proof of my citizenship by any insurance company, car or otherwise.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

I don’t think it’s an issue with insurance for you at all. But I would be very keen to have the paperwork to show I was a British Citizen the circumstances of becoming a British citizen. There are some terrible stories of people being deported after serving prison sentences to countries that they have no connection with.

Which can only be utter misreportings... People can ONLY be deported to the country of their nationality. Any other country would simply refuse to accept them.

If you're thinking of the Windrush etc, while they were godawful cockups, the people in question were born in those countries - just before they were independent - and they'd never applied for a passport in their lives, else the documentation situation would have come to light.

Other situations - like Shamima Begum - are because they've gained that nationality through birth to a citizen.

I doubt that any insurance company is asking how long anyone has been a British Citizen.
Surely the question is 'How long have you continuously in the UK?'
Often the is a choice between 'from birth' or a box to give a date.
The OP says they arrived aged 2 (with some other nationality?) and 'since then have been a British Citizen'
Acquiring British nationality doesn't happen that quick.
I'd just fill in the date of arrival in the Uk and forget about the nationality thing.
