Sky price hike

Despite being only 11 months into my 18 month contract I got a letter yesterday to tell me that my Sky bill was going up by 6%.  I was under impression with other companies that legally they could only change it by the RPI amount (1.4%) - are Sky bound by the same rules and if so does this mean I can negotiate my contract ?

No that's not true .

It depends upon your contract .

Companies can change it by whatever they like.

With regards to Sky (assuming this is Sky TV) your T&Cs state prices can rise by up to 10%.  And you cannot cancel it either.
