Old tap replacement help.

Options
Hi there, I just moved into my first property and it's a bit of a fixer upper to say the least. I was going to change old cold/ hot water tap in bathroom basin to a modern mixer tap (drill a new hole in the middle of the basin) but the water connection has left me perplexed. I tried to unscrew the hose  on the nut I marked  with arrow but it seems to be turning around. Anyone had a similar situation and could.help?

Which bit are you putting the spanner(s) on and which parts are just turning relative to each other?
Have you already got the kit to drill through the basin ie diamond hole saws, water cooling system and a drill capable of low speed-high torque (plus a lot of patience), if not you'd be better just buying a new basin and pedestal. Ceramic/porcelain is really tough to drill particularly for the size of hole you'll need, you can buy a basin and pedestal from £40 or so.

Hi thanks for reply the brass colour nut (between the white pipe and silver ring) and the whole hose together with it is turning relatively to the white pipe. I have the drill bits but I might consider buying a new basin or outing the new tap on the side in one of the existing tap holes. It's just a stopgap measure until full bathroom remodel in 6mo - 1 years time

Have you tried turning the brass nut and the body of the flexi hose relative to each other, are there flats on the chrome fitting part of the hose just above the brass nut?

Take off the top pipe from the isolator nut, and buy an extra long flexible tail

Thanks!!  I was thinking that just wasn't sure if those extra long tails exist and what were they called exactly and it's hard to find something without a name. I will try that thanks a ton!
