Loose Shower head holder (with pic)

see pic. Every time I put screw in and twist screw the bit that rotates in the other part is also rotating so the screw doesn't tighten. How can I stop that bit rotating so I can tighten it up? Many thanks

  • It turns with a clicking motion?

Interesting! How on earth to stop that mech from turning?! No idea.

It rotates through more than a full circle? It doesn't have a 'stop'? Is there a second hole alongside that screwhole in the part you are holding? Where you could possibly pass a thin screwdriver blade to 'lock' that mech from turning? Or ditto on the back of the other part?

What make is it? Worth a quick email?

(Failing that, drill a 3mm hole through in the right place and stick a pin in there temporarilly!)
  • Just one hole in the part I am holding, no clicking sound, yep just rotates with the screw.

What rotates, just the green bit or the white bit too? I'm thinking jam it with something or glue it.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • U4E, is the idea that, once it's on, the bit in your hand can still rotate to allow the handset angle to be adjusted?

Could you add a photo looking straight at that white/green mech? And perhaps a sideways one of the part that holds the W-G part?
  • Yes I guess the idea of the rotation is so it can be adjusted
  • ..............
  • It's as though there's a piece missing or broken off.  At the moment there's nothing engaging with the zig-zag teeth to give the detent action
  • Can't get my head around that. As CH says, there's surely a piece missing - a springy toothed part, most likely also white plastic. Have you checked the floor...?

Did this ever 'click' as you moved shower angle? Without that 'click' it'll surely not stay in position, but droop...? And the green central bit rotates independently of the surrounding white pieces?

Make? Time to email the manufacturers!

If you can live with it not rotating, think I'd be minded to just glue it in place and screw it back together

That bit in your hands - there looks like a slot in the bit around the screw, which should fit over something.  Either the something is missing (worn away/lost) or maybe it is the white bit that goes left right either side of the green.  Can you fit it on at that angle and then screw it up?
