Phillips flat screen TV repairer wanted

My daughter's 15" flat screen TV packed up just before the one year warranty was up but she did not bother to take it back to Curry's until now and it will cost £120 non-refundable to have it sent away and looked at. Parts will be extra on top of that. The man in Curry's said that she could have a new 15" TV for almost that amount but of course the picture would not be as good as a Phillips.
I came away from the shop with the TV still under my arm and am now looking for someone to fix it. I know the days of the corner TV shop who do repairs are long gone but can anyone out there help please? You've all been marvellous with recommending garages for same daughters car repairs. I shall be so glad when she becomes solvent and responsible, hopefully around the same time!

I'm afraid that's life today. The cost of repairing ANYTHING electrical is usually more than the cost of a repacement item. If I were you (or your daughter) I would have a google for 15" TVs and buy one anywhere bar Currys/Dixons/pCWorld.
John Lewis usually offer a free 3 year guarantee with their TVs and delivery is free.0 -

He means look at the S of G Act & you will see that goods should last a reasonable time which, in the case of a TV is longer than a year. See this link:

Thanks for that. Neither my daughter nor I could be bothered to fight it out with Curries about it lasting longer than a year. The fact that I took it back after it had been broken down for more than a year would go against us.
Anyway, in the end I looked in yellow pages and found an excellent shop which repaired the TV in 10 days and charged £111.63. They replaced the power/inverter board, whatever that is.
The shop is called Satellite Tv video and Hi-Fi repairs, 30 Crwys Road, Cathays, Cardiff tel 02920 232827 ifd any one wants to know.0
